Progress to Date

The progress of the Forum in the period September-December 2000 is described in the first Interim Report which was presented to the Minister for Health & Children on 20 December 2000. [Please click on Forum Documents]

Meetings of the Forum are held at regular monthly intervals. However, the Forum has established a number of informal working groups, each of which is assigned a specific, short-term task which, although essential to the overall progress of the Forum, can be carried out by a few individual members working independently of the main group.

Topics which have been assigned in this way include the details of ensuring effective public consultation, the setting-up of the web site and, most importantly, the compilation of replies to a series of questions on fluoridation posed to the Forum by an invited expert (see the "Interim Report").

If appropriate, other such ad-hoc groups may be set up.
