About the Site

There is considerable public interest in the topic of the fluoridation of public water supplies in Ireland - which will be seen in the section "About the Forum" - and it has led to the establishment of the Forum by Mr Micheál Martin TD, Minister for Health and Children, on 29 May 2000.

The Forum first met on 6 September 2000, and has met subsequently every month.

Because of widespread public interest, this Website has been set up, not to deal with the question of fluoridation (which, after all, is the business of the Forum itself), but to keep the public informed of the activities of the Forum and of progress being made towards its target completion date of September 2001.

The Website content is thus aimed at explaining the "why and wherefore" of the Forum and at keeping an up-to-date note of progress and news.

The goal of the Forum is to prepare a Final Report which will deal comprehensively with the very many detailed aspects of the complex topic of fluoridation of public water supplies - our drinking water.
